Job Description

Happy Day Catering is seeking experienced applicants for the position of Dishwasher/Janitor! The Dishwasher plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment. This position is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing all kitchen equipment, utensils, and dishware used during food preparation, service, and events. The Dishwasher also assists with general kitchen cleaning and supports the catering team with back-of-house duties. Some weekly janitorial responsibilities are required. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment using commercial dishwashing equipment.
• Ensure all items are properly cleaned and stored in designated locations.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dish area, kitchen floors, and trash areas.
• Remove trash and recycling regularly and safely.
• Assist in cleaning and breakdown of kitchen equipment and work areas.
• Follow all health and safety standards, including proper use of chemicals and cleaning supplies.
• Support kitchen staff with basic prep work and restocking as needed.
• Communicate any maintenance or repair needs of equipment to the supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Previous dishwasher or kitchen experience preferred, but not required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Dependable and punctual with a positive team attitude.
• Flexible schedule with availability on evenings, weekends, and event days.
• Applicant must have access to reliable transportation. 

Work Environment:

• Commercial kitchen and off-site event settings.
• Exposure to hot water, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures.

Compensation: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
