Job Summary:

As the Lineman , you will ultimately be responsible for building and maintaining aerial and underground telecommunications infrastructure, performing installation and repair activities, and supporting network construction projects. You will execute construction, maintenance, and restoration work while delivering safe, reliable, and high-quality telecommunications infrastructure. As the Lineman, your customers are telecommunications service providers, project managers, construction teams, and end users, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company's success through technical expertise, quality workmanship, and safe execution.

Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

  • Build, repair, and maintain aerial and underground telecommunications systems and infrastructure.
  • Repair and maintain cable systems including broken lashing, cable strand replacement, pole transfers, down-guys, aerial-to-underground conversions, substructure repairs, and wire or cable replacements.
  • Read and interpret work orders, engineering drawings, specifications, and cut sheets to determine work sequences.
  • Perform construction activities including digging holes, climbing utility poles, installing and removing poles and anchors, pulling and stringing wire and cable, and installing conduit.
  • Operate construction equipment including compressors, pumps, blowers, hydraulic diggers, and aerial lifts.
  • Utilize testing equipment to inspect manholes and remove water or debris when required.
  • Install, remove, relocate, and maintain aerial, underground, and building wire, cable, hardware, and associated equipment.
  • Connect wires and cables to terminals and install or remove related hardware on poles, buildings, and cable systems.
  • Respond to emergency restoration and outage situations requiring construction support.
  • Maintain compliance with company safety policies and applicable governmental regulations while ensuring public safety.
  • Complete daily production reports and As-Built documentation.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and support after-hours, weekend, holiday, and on-call assignments as required.
  • Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs.

Required Qualifications:

Education, Licensing, and Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • DOT Medical Card.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • First Aid Certification.
  • Flagger Certification.
  • Competent Person Certification.
  • OSHA 10 Certification.
  • Silica Training.
  • Confined Space Training.
  • Pole Climbing & Ladder Safety Certification.
  • Forklift Certification.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Experience

  • Experience in aerial and underground telecommunications line construction preferred.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications construction practices, procedures, tools, and materials.
  • Experience operating construction equipment and aerial lift devices preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of approved telecommunications line construction practices, procedures, tools, and materials.
  • Ability to distinguish wire and cable colors accurately.
  • Knowledge of first aid procedures and CPR.
  • Ability to apply mathematical calculations for drilling, pole sizing, and material measurements.
  • Ability to work safely in confined spaces and at elevated heights using poles, ladders, and aerial lifts.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safety and company values.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous telecommunications construction experience.
  • Experience operating aerial lifts and heavy construction equipment.
  • Additional telecommunications safety or technical certifications.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb poles, ladders, machinery, and other elevated structures.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to push, pull, reach, and carry equipment and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to load and unload tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Ability to coordinate hand-eye movement while performing technical tasks.
  • Ability to maintain depth perception, close vision, distance vision, and visual focus.
  • Ability to maintain visual and audible awareness of crew members, equipment, traffic, and surrounding hazards.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions at remote job sites.
