MERS/Missouri Goodwill Industries is looking for an energetic, self-motivated, and professional Regional Director of After-Market & Transportation to join our Retail Management team! The ideal candidate will support our mission, "Changing Lives Through the Power of Work!" and embody our core values of diversity, integrity, passion, professionalism, respect, and responsibility.

If you're seeking an opportunity that empowers you to achieve new goals while pursuing a mission-driven career, then this is the perfect fit for you.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required; master’s degree preferred.
  • Five years of multi-unit logistics, transportation, or aftermarket operations management required, including experience leading through managers and demonstrated knowledge of DOT/FMCSA compliance, salvage and diversion operations, and fleet management; Goodwill experience is preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including conflict resolution and change management.
  • Leadership skills include quality decision-making, goal setting, and problem-solving.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

  • Leads the After-Market and Transportation functions — including outlet stores, recycling operations, and a fleet of 20 tractor-trailers serving 60+ store locations, serving approximately 300 employees and a $20M operating budget to achieve targeted sales, production, and performance metrics.
  • Serves as operational owner of Infor WMS and Shipwell TMS for outlet and aftermarket operations; supports ongoing system implementation and adoption across the function.
  • Make regular visits to each department to monitor work progress and to direct, assist, and instruct staff on their methods, procedures, and performance standards.
  • Regularly reviews departmental reports to assess trends and performance; uses that analysis to shape operational approaches, drives continuous improvement, and sets direction for how the function executes — not just identify problems.
  • Maintains compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, including DOT/FMCSA driver and fleet standards, MDNR environmental reporting, and IRS obligations; ensures accurate and audit-ready records across all areas.
  • Leads waste reduction efforts across outlets and recycling operations, maximizing diversion from landfill and improving material recovery as a core operational and environmental responsibility of the function.
  • Sets the cultural standard for the After-Market and Transportation functions, establishing expectations around safety, ethics, and operational integrity that cascade through the Assistant Director and manager layers.
  • Ensures operational continuity across all areas of responsibility by managing coverage, succession readiness, and staffing gaps within the function.
  • Manages aftermarket vendor relationships and contracts across recycling operations; works directly with accounting on vendor invoicing, cost tracking, and financial reporting to drive diversion performance and maximize salvage revenue.
  • Partners with the SVP to set financial targets for aftermarket and transportation operations and is accountable for delivering against them, including labor management, vendor costs, and salvage revenue.
  • Directs, develops, and holds accountable the Assistant Directors of After-Retail & Logistics and the Transportation Manager; builds leadership depth within the function and identifies succession candidates for key roles.
  • Coaches and counsels employees at all levels within the function on performance expectations, with authority to administer discipline up to and including termination.
  • Partners across Retail, Accounting, Human Resources, and compliance functions to align priorities, resolve operational interdependencies, and drive outcomes that extend beyond the boundaries of the After-Market and Transportation functions.
  • Maintain knowledge of market, competition, best practices, and trends in aftermarket, salvage, and transportation strategies.
  • Safeguards company property and personal information from harm, damage, or theft.
  • Assists Human Resources or Risk Management in investigating theft, misappropriation, unethical or inappropriate behavior, or unauthorized possession of company property.
  • Must read, follow, model, and enforce all agency policies, procedures, and values.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Individual and family medical benefits for full-time employees working 30 or more hours per week on the first day of the month following date of hire.
  • Individual and family dental and vision benefits on the first of the month following the hire date for employees working 20 or more hours week.
  • Voluntary Life and AD&D Insurance on the first of the month following the hire date for employees working 20 or more hours per week.

  • 401(A) Retirement on date of hire for employees working 20 or more hours per week.
